Alibuilding applies land use and water conservation systems in the construction of its development in Polop
The Polop Hill Nature construction company incorporates a water reuse system and prepares the excavated land for a second use
Alicante, October 30th - The construction of the Polop Hill Natura residential complex, consisting of 65 single-family homes located in the town of Polop (Marina Baixa), is being carried out using new techniques that allow for the reuse of land and water in the construction process. Alibuilding is thus aligning itself with the most demanding environmental preservation standards and joining the reuse policies in partnership with the construction company Novaligrepro.
Regarding reducing water consumption during construction, work is being done along two lines. Firstly, by taking advantage of rainwater, and secondly, by reusing water flows where it is possible to recover some of it for other uses.
The system consists of building a tank connected by a network of pipes to collect rainwater from the roofs and terraces of the homes. This rainwater is used in each phase of the residential complex's development.
At the same time, water used where reuse is possible is collected in these same tanks to give it a new life. Both rainwater and water used for roof leak testing are stored in a tank, making it usable for various purposes such as watering and compacting fill.
Once construction is complete and the homes are handed over, this tank will be available to the homeowners' association, who can continue collecting rainwater and using it for common purposes such as filling the swimming pools and watering the gardens. Novaligrepo is currently in the process of obtaining UNE-EN ISO 14046 quality certification and water usage control through the Water Footprint Network (WFN) initiative.
Land Use Management
Furthermore, the Polop Hills Nature development, which offers single-family homes of various types with 3 or 4 bedrooms in a unique setting in the Marina Baixa region, also incorporates a process for utilizing the soil from excavations. Instead of being sent to a landfill, this material undergoes a transformation process by mixing it with gravel extracted from the construction area.
The resulting material is reused for filling surfaces and creating embankments, balancing the volume of excavation with the volume of fill.
This system avoids tons of CO² emissions by reducing the number of heavy vehicles traveling from the Polop Hills Nature construction site to authorized landfills.
