Polop Hills Nature: History, Water and Landscape in the Heart of the Costa Blanca
On the Costa Blanca, there are places whose identity is understood not only through their landscape, but also through their history and the elements that have shaped life in the town over generations. Polop is one of them.
At Alibuilding, we recognised the potential of a residential project located between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of inland Alicante, while preserving a strong identity shaped by tradition, its natural surroundings and one element deeply rooted in its history: water.
Beyond its streets or its open views towards the coast, Polop is known for a symbol that forms part of the town’s collective memory and remains one of its most representative landmarks.
The 221 Water Spouts of Polop
In the historic centre of the town lies the well-known Plaza de los Chorros, a fountain made up of 221 natural water spouts that flow continuously from the stone wall overlooking the square.
Each of these spouts represents a municipality in the province of Alicante, turning the fountain into a symbolic map of the region. For decades, this place has been a meeting point for locals and visitors alike—a daily space where the sound of water is part of the town’s atmosphere.
Beyond its aesthetic value, the fountain reflects Polop’s historical relationship with water. In a place with such a strong identity, residential developments like Polop Hills Nature find their meaning not only in their location, but also in being part of an environment where history, landscape and lifestyle are naturally connected.
A Town with Its Own Identity
Polop still retains the character of the inland villages of the Costa Blanca, where history and landscape coexist with a peaceful and close-knit way of life. This is precisely what inspired Polop Hills Nature: to create a residential development where architecture is not conceived in isolation, but in dialogue with its surroundings—respecting the town’s identity while offering a way of living connected to the landscape, the light and the essence of Polop.
The old town also preserves this traditional structure, with streets that climb towards the former castle, revealing corners full of history. From the highest points of the town, views open up towards the coast, while inland, the silhouette of Mount Ponoig rises.
One of Polop’s greatest strengths is its location. This balance between inland and coastal living has increasingly attracted people looking to combine tranquillity, natural surroundings and proximity to the main hubs of the Costa Blanca.
A New Way of Living in Polop
Within this context, Polop Hills Nature emerges as a residential development that reflects this way of understanding Polop from a contemporary perspective. Rather than simply occupying a space, the project is conceived as a way of living within the town—balancing privacy, outdoor living and everyday life.
The homes are designed to prioritise the experience of living in open spaces, with outdoor areas and a residential layout that encourages a more natural relationship between the home and its surroundings. This is complemented by communal areas designed to extend the use of the home beyond its interior and support a more flexible lifestyle.
A Place Where History Lives On
In places like Polop, the passage of time does not erase the traces of the past—it coexists with new ways of inhabiting the territory, as proposed today by Polop Hills Nature through a contemporary residential vision. Landmarks such as the Plaza de los Chorros remind us that the identity of a place is built through its history, its landscape and the people who live there.
At Alibuilding, we understand housing as part of that environment. That is why we develop projects that not only offer spaces to live in, but also integrate into places with character, history and a unique identity.
Because choosing a home also means choosing the place where you want to become part of its story.
